One of the world’s most decorated professional soccer teams has tapped a downtown Miami office tower for its new North American headquarters.

FC Barcelona signed a lease for 2,410 square feet in One Biscayne Tower, at 2 S. Biscayne Blvd. Move-in is expected in the coming weeks.

Additional details, including an exact move-in date and planned headcount, weren’t immediately available.

Blanca Commercial Real Estate’s Danet Linares and Nicole Kaiser represented the tenant in the lease negotiations. Juan Ruiz, Alex Marquez and Jack Davidson, also with Blanca Commercial Real Estate, represented the landlord.

Financial details weren’t disclosed.

One of the most widely followed sports teams in the world, FC Barcelona previously announced plans to relocate its North American operations from New York to Miami, but didn’t say where in the Magic City the team would land.

In a news release last April, FC Barcelona cited Miami’s status as an emerging soccer market and its proximity to Latin America.

At the time, the Miami Downtown Development Authority said it would support the move with a business incentive grant. The DDA, an independent city agency, told the Business Journal the grant is worth $450,000, to be awarded over three years.

One Biscayne Tower is owned by a joint venture of Boca Raton-based CP Group, Miami-based Rialto Capital Management and Irvine, California-based Sabal Capital Partners. The partnership acquired the high-rise for $225 million in 2021. At 982,578 square feet, it’s South Florida’s second-biggest multitenant office building, according to Business Journal research.

Under the new ownership, One Biscayne Tower has seen a multimillion-dollar revamp, including new conference centers, fitness clubs and lounges, as well as upgraded food and beverage offerings.

FC Barcelona’s move comes as Miami continues to grow its influence in global soccer. Last month, Inter Miami CF dethroned Los Angeles FC to rank for the first time as the most valuable franchise in Major League Soccer, according to Forbes.

Inter Miami is owned by former soccer star David Beckham and Jorge and Jose Mas of Coral Gables-based MasTec (NYSE: MTZ).

The team’s popularity and value have soared since Lionel Messi, who used to play for FC Barcelona, joined in 2023. The Argentine soccer superstar signed a three-year contract extension last October, keeping him in Miami through the 2028 season. Financial details weren’t disclosed.

Inter Miami’s new arena, dubbed Nu Stadium in a naming rights deal with Brazil-based financial technology company Nubank (NYSE: NU), is slated to open April 4.

South Florida is also gearing up to host multiple matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.
